Contaminated Stainless Steel Imports
Over the past few months radioactively contaminated steel products have turned up in Germany. Since August 2008 more than 150 tons of contaminated material have been detected by German authorities. Procurement for New Daimler Supplier Model
Daimler AG awarded prizes to 14 companies for their outstanding achievements at the first Key Supplier Meeting, which was held on March 12, 2009 at the Mercedes-Benz Center in Stuttgart. For the first time ever, the awards included a prize for innovation. In addition, the new “Daimler Supplier Network” cooperation model was also presented to the supplier companies during the meeting. The new model is aimed at establishing an even closer partnership with selected suppliers.

CeBIT 2009 Sparks New Optimism
“A majority of the 4,300 companies from 69 countries drew fresh optimism from being here at CeBIT,” commented Ernst Raue, the Deutsche Messe Managing Board member in charge of CeBIT, on Sunday in Hannover. “A huge number of exhibitors and visitors are now leaving Hannover with a renewed sense of buoyancy as well as bulging order books and a solid foundation for new business.” The show had lived up to their expectations, he added.

Germany’s economy has stabilized recently, if only at a very low level. The Markit/BME Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), published in March 2009, was up fractionally from 32.0 to 32.1 in the reporting month of February. Values above 50 stand for growth, values below 50 for weakness. Read more
