German Imports Hit Record Level in June

Germany exported commodities to the value of EUR 86.5 billion and imported commodities to the value of EUR 72.4 billion in June 2010. Hence, German exports increased by 28.5% and imports by 31.7% in June 2010 on June 2009. This was the highest monthly export value reported since October 2008 (EUR 88.7 billion). The import value for June 2010 was the highest ever reported since foreign trade statistics have been compiled for the Federal Republic of Germany in 1950. Read more

Evonik Increases Prices for Coating Polyesters

Evonik Industries’ Coatings & Additives Business Unit will increase the prices for coating polyesters sold under the brand names DYNAPOL L, DYNAPOL LH as well as for the VESTICOAT UB product range in Europe, Africa and the Middle East effective July 1st, 2009. The price increase will be up to € 0.1/kg. Evonik says that this step is unavoidable due to some recent price hikes of important raw materials.

Through a global purchasing agreement, the automotive supplier Continental and the Schaeffler Group have started the first large joint project in the history of cooperation between the two companies. The purchasing cooperation was contractually agreed as of March 27, 2009. Its goal is to optimize cost of materials and achieve a savings potential of 350 to 400 million euros for the period between 2009 and 2011.
