BMW Group Expands its Activities in China

The BMW Group is planning further expansion of its activities in China in the future. “BMW Group vehicles are very popular in China. We anticipate that this growth will continue in the future. Therefore, together with our Joint Venture partner Brilliance, we will increase the previously announced investment of 560 million euros in our Chinese facility in Shenyang to around one billion euros,” announced Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Norbert Reithofer, during the visit of the Party Secretary of the Chinese province of Liaoning, Wang Min, in Munich.  Read more

Siemens Selects TI Best Supplier Worldwide

Siemens AG has honored its best suppliers worldwide in fiscal 2010. The four awards are shared between two major concerns and two mid-sized companies. The U.S. company Texas Instruments took first place in the overall ranking. In addition, Siemens selected the Trips Group Germany as the most innovative supplier, Franke GmbH with headquarters in Aalen, Germany, as the best in the Global Value Sourcing category and Deutsche Post DHL as the most sustainable supplier. German Exports to China Unaffected by Crisis

As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the occasion of the visit of the Federal President, Horst Köhler, to China from 17 to 20 May 2010, German exports to the People’s Republic of China increased – in contrast to the general trend – by 7.0% to Euro 36.5 billion in 2009 from a year earlier. For comparison: Over the same period, total German exports decreased by 17.9% to Euro 808.2 billion. Read more

Weekly Joint Service Line to Asia

Cala_Pantera.jpgThe handling of shipments for the Xin Hong Kong at the Eurogate Container Terminal Hamburg (CTH) on 17 July 2009 launched a scheduled weekly container service which connects North Europe to the Far East.

Under this new joint service schedule the Chinese ocean carrier Shipping Container Line (CSCL) and Evergreen Line from Taiwan cooperate on these routes for the first time. The new AEX-1 / CEM uses 4 container boats of CSCL, with a capacity of about 9,600 TEU and four Evergreen units between 7,000 and 8,000 TEU. The carriers CMA CGM, ZIM and IRIS Lines have also booked container positions for the service line.

After its first calling at Hamburg, the XIN HONG KONG called at Rotterdam and Zeebrügge, then entered its home port Hong Kong as well as Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo and Yantian (Shenzhen). The cruising speed of the units used allows a traveling time of 56 days for a roundtrip.

In Hamburg, container traffic with Asia reached a total volume of 5.5 million containers (TEU) in 2008. With 3.1 million TEU the People’s Republic of China (including Hong Kong) achieved also in 2008 a top position among the ten major trading partners of  Hamburg Harbour in container traffic .
