German Imports Hit Record Level in June
Germany exported commodities to the value of EUR 86.5 billion and imported commodities to the value of EUR 72.4 billion in June 2010. Hence, German exports increased by 28.5% and imports by 31.7% in June 2010 on June 2009. This was the highest monthly export value reported since October 2008 (EUR 88.7 billion). The import value for June 2010 was the highest ever reported since foreign trade statistics have been compiled for the Federal Republic of Germany in 1950. Read more
Exports to China up 14.5 Percent
In the third quarter of 2009, German imports were 18.9 percent lower than those of the same quarter of last year, amounting to Euro 167.9 billion. When price-adjusted, imports decreased 10.9 percent. Read more
17 Percent of EU Imports from China
The share of China in EU27 trade in goods continued to rise in the first six months of 2009. Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom are the largest trading partners of the People’s Republic. Read more
Free Trade Deal with South Korea
On 15 October 2009, EU Trade Commissioner Catherine Ashton and Korean Trade Minister Kim Jong-hoon initialled a free trade agreement (FTA) that is the most important ever negotiated between the European Union and a third country. The deal, estimated to be worth up to EUR 19 billion in new trade for EU exporters, will remove virtually all tariffs between the two economies, as well as many non-tariff barriers. Read more
