AGC Ltd. was awarded the Supplier Award 2009 on the 3rd Suppliers’ Day of Carl Zeiss SMT. The event’s theme was “Realizing Market Opportunities through Flexibility”. 42 suppliers from all over the globe accepted the invitation to Oberkochen in June.

“65 to 70 percent of the total purchasing volume of the SMT Group is covered by the top suppliers. This makes it extremely important to hold in-depth discussions about technologies, further developments, application potential, the market situation, delivery reliability, prices, delivery conditions and much more,” states Peter Schlindwein, Director of Supply Chain Management at Carl Zeiss SMT.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the 2009 Supplier Award to Japanese company AGC (Asahi Glass Co) Ltd. for outstanding product and delivery performance. In the supplier evaluation AGC Ltd. proved to be the best supplier in 2009 in the four categories of quality, price, technology and logistics with a total of 14 subcategories. In addition to substrate material for the elements of the lithography lenses manufactured by Carl Zeiss SMT, AGC Ltd. produced, for example, the multicolor ETFE films (ethylenetetrafluorethylene) for the roof and façade of the Munich soccer stadium in Germany.
