Time over for Systems in Munich

After almost 40 years, time is over for the Systems. The IT trade fair is taking place for the last time this week (21 to 24 October). The “Messe München GmbH” announces two new events, among them a security fair in summer 2009.

According to the Messe München GmbH, the organiser, a shift in marketing strategies of the information and communications technology sector has caused the replacement of the Systems, which was founded in 1969, by two new events starting in 2009. The IT security area will get an independent show in cooperation with the SecuMedia Publisher. Not only will providers of information technology present themselves, but also manufacturers and service providers to offer classic security solutions, according to the organiser. The show will take place for the first time from 23 to 25 June 2009.

In addition, a new international communications, sales and marketing platform for the ITC industry will have its debut in autumn 2009. A detailed concept will be presented by Messe München to the public before the end of this year.

Klaus Dittrich, Managing Director of the Messe München GmbH, said: “After almost 40 years the Systems 2008 is, due to its 1,061 exhibitors and to the top marks awarded by all market participants, still the leading business-to-business trade fair of the ITC industry. It leaves in a strong position. During the past years it became a driving force for corporate events, congresses, conferences and road shows, with the effect that, for the first year in the history of the ITC fair, our congress centre ICM is completely booked out. Nevertheless, we decided to account for the changes in one of the most important future industries by making absolutely new, flexible and innovative proposals to the market. We are convinced that the new live events will render excellent services to providers as well as to users and we wish that most exhibitors will follow us on our new path.”
